The keynote speaker Dr. Sylvia Bashevkin, Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto, was introduced by Mary Clancy, our Canadian Consul General in Boston, who pointed out that Canada was the first country in the world to declare rape a war crime and to allow domestic violence as a grounds for claiming refugee status.
