Ma question à la ministre est la suivante: Si les tribunaux peuvent dans les faits modifier la définition de conjoint sur un coup de tête et que la ministre n'interjette pas appel et qu'on lui conseille de s'adresser à EGALE pour savoir si elle devrait le faire ou non, pourquoi donc notre comité, ou tout Canadien, doit-il croire que les tribunaux ne peuvent changer la définition de mariage sur un coup de tête?
My question to the minister is, if in fact the courts can change the definition of spouse on a whim and she does not appeal it and is advised to check with EGALE in that decision as to whether or not she should, why should this committee, or any Canadian, believe the courts can't change the definition of marriage on a whim and then she would again say, “Well, the courts told us to do it”?
